Pre-Client Questions

How do I know if I need brand photos or updated headshots?

If your appearance has changed, if you’ve had an energetic glow up, if you’ve recently pivoted or are adding on new services. If you’re working with a content creator or social media manager. If you have been using cell phone photos for a year or two and you want your business to look as legit as it feels.

How do you handle scheduling conflicts or cancellations, and what is your policy on rescheduling shoots?

I request a 7-day notice when rescheduling half or full day brand sessions, and 48-hour notice to reschedule a content or lifestyle session. Life happens, and as a disability family, I totally get that emergencies and sick days pop up when you least expect them. That’s why I offer one complimentary reschedule for your session—no stress, no extra fees. I’ll send over my next available dates so we can get you back on the calendar. If something comes up again after that, you’ll just need to pay a new booking fee to lock in your spot. This helps keep things fair and my schedule running smoothly. Thanks so much for understanding—I’m here to make this process as easy as possible for you!

If our session is outdoors and it looks like it will rain, we pick a back-up rain date, and we make the call within 24hrs of the originally scheduled session

*If you experience any symptoms of illness within 48 hours of your session, please let me know so I can assess whether we need to reschedule. I have an immunocompromised child and need to be extra cautious. Thank you for your understanding!

What is your process for understanding and capturing the unique essence of our brand in your photography?

I love to start a client relationship with a video call to discuss your business, why you want photos, and what you want to use them for. This gives us both an opportunity to get to know each other and see if we work well together. For my lifestyle and content sessions, we do most of the planning through email and if  you would like, voice memos on telegram! I gather references for every single session I photograph, and I share them as inspiration with my clients. From there, they can confirm the general creative direction, or they can share their inspiration photos with me and we go from there.

With my half and full day brand clients, I will send you a full custom questionnaire that starts the planning process for us! Feel free to use this questionnaire to ramble - the more info you give me about your business and YOU, the more we have to work with and spark ideas! After you return the questionnaire, we will get on a video call where you can share any proposed ideas you have, and I share my proposed ideas/scenes(with inspiration photos), and then we make decisions on which of the proposed ideas we want to RUN WITH.

Where will we take photos?!

We will talk about this strategy in your discovery call and planning phase of your project to find the best spot or space that fits your brand, captures your vibe, and accomplishes your goals. Any additional studio fees, airbnb costs, or other rentals will be added to your total project cost.

I want to take photos in my brick and mortar space, but there is no natural light. Can you work with that?

Yes! I have a professional lighting kit which I bring based on the kind of session. When photographing indoors, I ask all of my clients to send me reference photos of the space and information on how many windows there are. I am experienced in using several methods of photography lighting, and we will discuss ahead of time what *kind* of lighting you want in your photos. We will discuss the best lighting and vibe of your photos during the planning phase of your project!

I’m awkward on camera and don’t know how to pose! Is that ok?

YES - I work almost entirely with business owners, none of whom are models. We will discuss ahead of time what feel and vibe you want from your photos, and I will use that information to plan prompts and poses for you. On the day of your session, I’ll coach you through every shot, by utlizing reference photos, demonstrating postures or movements myself, AND directing you as you pose.. It is my job to make you feel and look and feel your best, and I know how weird it feels to be in front of the camera because I get my photo taken for work too! I will work on making a comfortable and safe space for you AND I will tell you everything you need to do when you’re in front of the camera.

Do I need to have my hair and makeup done?

While it’s not required, if you feel comfortable wearing it, I highly recommend either doing your makeup, or hiring a makeup artist if you do not have makeup products. Cameras are so complex that they have the ability to document the tiniest details on our face. Makeup evens skin tone, blurs pores, and covers things like blemishes and under eye circles. If you need recommendations for a makeup artist, I have so many folks I’m happy to connect you with!

Do you offer any additional services such as styling, location scouting, or prop sourcing?

Styling and brainstorming prop and outfit ideas is a collaborative effort between the two of us. I love helping my clients come up with prop and outfit ideas! Sourcing the outfits and props is up to you, but if you want that taken off your plate, discuss it with me and I can factor sourcing and prop fees into your package. Location scouting open-to-the-public locations is a complementary part of my services!

Will you photoshop me to be thinner?

Simple answer, no, I will not. I believe all bodies are good bodies and deserving of being seen exactly as they are. I do not offer complex photoshop editing such as removing/adding folks into photos or drastically changing body shapes. BUT - I do pay a lot of attention to the details of your finished photos. Here are examples of things I DO edit in the post-production process: teeth whitening, iris enhancement, skin smoothing and blemish removal, gentle smoothing of wrinkles, occasional smoothing of wrinkles or bumps on clothing, and removing distracting things in the background.

When will I receive my gallery back? What’s your turnaround time?

You will receive a social media preview of your session within two weeks (unless you choose to opt out of this), and your full gallery will be returned to you in 4 weeks. If you have a specific launch or deadline you need photos by, please mention this during your inquiry process and I’m happy to add on the service of returning your photos sooner with an additional fee, if my bandwidth permits!

My return is longer than most photographers, I am a full-time mom and care provider to my child with a disability, and that is why I have a big cushion in my return times. My values as a service provider are that social media and marketing are not an emergency. I can work with you if you have specific deadlines, but notice and communication is key. I appreciate your patience!
